There are just 3 of us. We're currently based in Warsaw, Poland. Me and Bartek are programmers that can build everything - it's always just a matter of time that we need to spend on a certain project. Karolina (my girlfriend) knows everything about Shoujo Manga and she is our guide. We're working as a team for 5 years now. The idea of Mangaido has started in the Fall of 2014. At the beginning we wanted to host Shoujo Manga of a biggest Japanese publishers (kind of Spotify for Manga) (old video: http://youtu.be/8UbVyapGB-k ). We had opportunity to take lot of money for this project from European venture capitals but we decided to take everything on ourselves. At the beginning of 2015 we flew to Tokyo to talk with Kodansha, Hakusensha, Shueisha, Kadokawa and some other publishers. Of course, all of them were not interested in further cooperation and they didn't seen any serious opportunity in such idea. Then, we went to Tokyo's Comiket and we saw thousands of amateur Japanese artists that was publishing by themselves their awesome comic series. We changed the idea of Mangaido and from that point we started to build website where artists from all over the world could publish their comic series to be translated to other languages by community. First version of Mangaido was ready at Fall of 2015 but we finished translation tool at the fall of 2016. This is the strongest side of Mangaido - translation tool. At the begining of spring 2017 we published our coin system and from now on every comic creator can earn money via our website. I am sure that at the end of 2017 we will grow to a big community of translators willing to help amateur artists by translating their artworks in couple of hours and that we gather here lots of talented artists. We're 100% committed to our mission - help artists by translations and good earning platform.
I just uploaded new redesigned top menu with mailbox notification, so now you'll never miss any new message :D (idea sent by @choux - thank you!!!)
Also I just added support for Filipino language - now you can translate comic series to Tagalog! :D (bug sent by @akiaki - thank you very much!!! )
If you'll find any new bug or you have an idea for improvement sent me a message or just leave a comment here ;)
We're looking for a Japanese crew member that could help us reach Japanese artists.
This August we've been on Tokyo Comiket and we saw a great response from Japanese artists for Mangaido. There are lots of artists seeing potential on publishing their works to international audience and we would like to help them in reaching that goal. If you know someone that would like to join our team let me know :)
// We're also looking for new translators that would like to try themselves as comic series translators. Believe me, translation of comic series with our translation tool is super fun :D We're looking on for translations to any languages you know - not only English and Japanese ;)
Hi guys! Today I added a small redesign of comic series reader. Let me know if you'll find any issues :)
Hi! Just a quick update. From now on users can login/register via Facebook :D Also we redesign our payment flow and we added possibility to pay just for one chapter instead of buying entire coin package. Now we're working on improving comic series reading page :)
As you can see I just pushed some changes to Mangadio production server! :D
- Genres: top level categories for comic series. Later on we will add second level categories that are more descriptive. Genres are a step towards making comic series on our wesbite more easy to find.
- Search by language: Now you can search for comic series by language. It will find series that are originally in a language of your desire or are translated to this language.
- Chart with views - now you can see how views are changing in last 6 weeks in certain series
- Recently popular series - now since we started gathering information about changes in views we can show not only the most popular series but also the ones that are gaining views recently (we are comparing views from 3 last weeks with 3 past weeks)
- Page with translations - now you can see all the recent translations on separate web page
More changes soon. We're working recently on:
- Login/register via Facebook
- Redesign of Comic Series reader
- Improved coin system (donation buttons, pay for chapter, smoothing a payment flow)
- and more ;)
Vlog from Warsaw! Translations, Genres, Search filters and comic series page redesign :D
Hi guys! Mentioning in status updates and in comments are working from now on. I know there is much more to improve but it's a step in a good direction :D So if you want to let someone know about your post/comment just write "@" and a unique name of a user like @mangadio @michal_wrzosek @bartek @karolina etc.
No vlog today :P Buuut... I started working on mentions in comments so that you can mention someone in your comment to send him notification to your comment - right now only the author of the commented content is notified when you add a comment. In order to make this, I added unique name for each user here. You can see your unique user name in your profile in the URL or in the settings of your profile in the field: "Unique name" - there you can also change it to your desired name. I hope to finish mentions in a day or two, but right now you can see already some changes. Lots of new features are on the way. Take care guys!!! :D
